How You Can Help Others

March 16th, 2008

I have added to the section on this web site. If you have $25 or more to spare you can also help individuals or businesses take the steps to becoming self-sufficient and improve their lives and their families.

It is a very worthwhile cause. I am considering setting up a fund to help out which anyone can donate even small amounts and once the fund builds up to at least $25 I will fund one of the projects. These would be outright donations and not be repaid to you. Funds repaid would go back into other projects. You will also not be able to designate which project to fund but you are welcome to suggest one by making a comment on this site.

Of course if you have at least $25 you can do that directly. Donations/loans made directly would be repaid to you should the ventures succeed.

From the Kiva web site:

We let you loan to the working poor

Kiva lets you connect with and loan money to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world. By choosing a loan on Kiva, you can “sponsor a business” and help the world’s working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates from the entrepreneur you’ve sponsored. As loans are repaid, you get your loan money back.”

To donate funds under $25 use this paypal button. Otherwise go direct to the Kiva site. You will be able to specify the amount you wish to donate.
