I suppose for the novice the news that a program has failed is big news. The reality is that virtually all of the surfs and similar programs do or will fail.  It is just a question of time.  It does not matter if the admin is a “trusted” individual or not.

I have sometimes found it wiser not to know or know of the person running the show. It keeps you more alert and less likely to blow too much on the “opportunity”.  Just because some blogger or list owner says they know or that “so and so” can be trusted does not mean the program will succeed or that you will make money.  Some of them make a great deal of their money on referral fees no matter if the program fails or not. So get to know who they are and the type of stuff they put out there.

The horrific track record for most of these programs is the main reason I have divested myself out of this arena for the most part.  Sure I will dabble here and there but the here’s and there’s are few and far between as time expands.

Also: Do not get sucked to getting in too late into anything.

It is incumbent upon anyone who participates in these things to become as informed as possible, take responsibility for your decisions, develop a strategy, establish and use some firm and hard rules. Otherwise for sure, stay away and maybe stay away anyway.

Ok, back to some tax strategy.  This directed at Canadian members as this is a new program in Canada this year.  It is called the Tax Free Savings Account aka TFSA.

Note: Since I wrote this the CRA have made the details much clearer on their website so please check with them.  You do not have to open an account this year as your “room” will still accumulate. Also they are proposing some changes so it is best to keep up with them.

You may have already done so but if not you must do this even putting in a small amount to make sure you get the “room” for 2009.

NOTE:  Do It Now!

New this year. TFSA Tax Free Savings Account   You can have stocks, savings mutual funds, savings etc. in it.  It is registered but not taxed like an RRSP.  You can withdraw and pay no tax and put funds back in etc.  You can put up to $5000 per year in them, max.

It is a good way to save paying tax even on savings.
The $5000 also accumulates so if you put in $1000 this year you could put in $9000 next year.  They establish a TFSA “room” just like for an RRSP.  The CRA will advise your limit each year but you have to have one before that will happen.

About Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA)

Starting in 2009, Canadian residents who are 18 years of age or older will be able to earn tax-free investment income within a Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) during their lifetime.

Contributions to a TFSA are not deductible for income tax purposes. Also, interest on money borrowed to invest in a TFSA is not tax deductible. However, the income generated in such an account (for example, investment income and capital gains) is tax-free, even when it is withdrawn.

The TFSA dollar limit is $5,000 in 2009, and will be indexed to inflation and rounded to the nearest $500 in later years. Unused TFSA contribution room can be carried forward to later years. The total of TFSA withdrawals in a calendar year is added to the TFSA contribution room for the next calendar year.

Still many people will not do this.  At the very least open one up with a small contribution so you do not miss out on the “Room” that will build up for you or your children, 18 years of age or older.  Help them out if need be even if they do not have any income. Dec 31st is the deadline so do not miss out.

Ok, that is just some free advice from me. Remember this is like getting free money from the government.   If they want to give it away for free, I say take it. This kind of advice I do not mind giving out freely as it can help many of you save on your taxes now or in the future.

Just a quick update on a few things.  Check out the Creative Waves blog about the Blackberry attack, a true story about what happened to me recently. Yes there was blood drawn.  Nasty nasty stuff. But I survived the brutal barbarian blackberry attack.   Did you know that blackberries can be dangerous to your health?   I know for a fact that they can be.

Oui, c’est vrai, my little petite poutine. That is meatless poutine as it should be. Nothing to do with this story but hey, it be fine cuisine, the lovely, delicious poutine!

SQIP and Me2Everyone both have upgrades in the works at the present time. It seems to be affecting SQIP a bit more because they are unable to take payments into the FTS system until the new software is on hand and working.  This is just a temporary delay.  I hope that is resolved quickly.

Nothing new on Affordable Affiliates.  I do hope they get the program done and working out how we have done with the sales of goods.   That program should be fine in time.  They have an extensive inventory on the BC mainland here in Canada.

I rolled over my Ad-Ventures4U this week.  I figured I wanted a bit more working for me in there.  That is continuing to move along well. The recent site upgrade has it working really fast now. Admin is extremely communicative and responsive to the members.

PyraBang is also continuing to perform, it is a bit more challenging for many to understand and was set up as a free press type of thing to bypass the commercial media outlets who many consider as being biased in what and how they present the news. Anyway there are some in our group who are continuing to promote and drive it along.

Qassia is now Qondio. This is more for website owners.  In theory to garner more exposure for your sites gaining backlinks to your website.

Just caught an update over at BBC, Birthday Bonus Club and they are up for sale.  It has been clear for awhile that the owner had lost interest in the site.  Lots of members but many not coughing up when birthdays rolled around.  Unfortunately as this had great promise.  They plan to sell shares in BBC and convert it into a social media site.  Well not sure how that will go.

They are using several sources to determine the value of BBC.  One is Cubestat and the other is WebsiteOutlook. Prices seem inflated and not sure how this can be determined like that but interesting to put your website into their computations, for fun anyway.

As for the social media sites, I lean towards Me2Everyone and SQIP. Both of these are still giving away free shares (PEPS) Me2E is retaining the 5000 share giveaway for recruited members plus 2000 for the members who sign up.  So that is a good deal.  They are also offering other incentives for members who want to be active.

SQIP is giving away 100 Free PEPS valued at 1.19 Euros currently and it goes up weekly.

This comes under the heading: Ah, Ain’t She Sweet!

Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

A lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against, among other things, fire.
Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company.

In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost ‘in a series of small fires.’ The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason, that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion.

The lawyer sued and WON! STAY WITH ME .

Delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous..

The judge stated nevertheless, that the lawyer held a policy from the company, in which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire,

without defining what is considered to be unacceptable ‘fire’ and was obligated to pay the claim.Rather than endure a lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his loss of the cigars that perished in the ‘fires’.

NOW FOR THE BEST PART ….
After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of ARSON!!!

With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.

Yes, Canada is 142 years young today and I wish all the Canucks out there a Happy Canada Day.

This may be a bit off topic.  I recall Lydia posting something like this for js aka John Stankiewicz etc blogger guy from 9Planets, see links for that.  In any case js may be better looking however when it comes to duck appeal.  Not a chance my friends. Notta.  Zippo. Zilch.  Only the truth gained from years of experience from treading water.  Yes sir/ma’am.

There seems to be a pecking order, no duck pun’d intended, as js recently moved up a blogger to near top spot.  I am on the bottom and sometimes that can be fun but at other times, maybe not.  It depends.  But it cannot be a big deal can it?  I tend to view that as an ego thing anyway.

The more I think of it.  I like the bottom.  Yes I do.  Just another point of view from the bottom.  Well hey, I used to like lobsters and they are bottom feeders.  Which reminds me.  Keep buying those Canadian lobsters folks.  The fisherman need your support.

In any case what I am talking about here is the Playgirl thingy that Lydia did for the young looking and handsome guy,  js.  That complicated and spiritual guy who is well intended.

Ok, this is not really about js, just to put it into some kind of perspective.

So without further ado do I present to you the real Playgirl Man Of The Year, aka The Big Quacker.  Nothing micro about this fellow.  He is surely pretty and ready to take them all on. I love this guy he is so man err duckly. Or is that ducky!

Ok, while I am all for giving that duck Top Billing,  I think it is time to take off for Mars.  I am ready for that too.

PSS.  Yes the Pittsburgh Penguins won Lord Stanley’s Cup. But like usual they have to give it back next year and get to try all over again.  Even with Sid the Kid, Sidney Crosby, the pride of Nova Scotia,Canada, sitting on the bench for the final two periods.  Imagine benching the star player for getting hurt.  Sick I tell ya. Sick.  Just kidding Sid. Put down that hockey stick.  Whack. Whack. Whack.  Penguins, aren’t they just big ducks that cannot fly?

PSSS. What happened to the Mighty Anaheim Ducks? Never mind the Vancouver Canucks,  do you think another team will ever win the Stanley Cup?

So Sid the kid was not really sick, just got creamed into the boards.  Just thought I would clear that up.  Whack Whack Whack.

It is not common knowledge, of course, that money grows on trees in Canada.  Only certain citizens are permitted to know the secret locations and no one else is allowed access under any circumstances. 

Now it is Victoria Day weekend here in Canada.  Holy holidays delight.   Time to pluck a few bills and go to the party.

So no one out there should believe it is easy money.  No sir and no ma’am, it is not.  It takes effort to pick those bills off the trees, a delicate touch just before they become too ripe and ruined. So no one outside of Canada best get the idea of moving in.  We cannot produce enough to save the world. Sorry petunias and rosemary too.

Secondly, you cannot get too greedy and you must wait until they mature to harvest them at the right time.  Too early and you get the small stuff, 5’s and 10’s.  The really juicy 50’s and 100’s are what you really really really, want. Sometimes they have to change the locations if someone comes on them by chance.

Well I guess that is about as easy as it gets.
